Hugh Hopper FrangloBand St.Jean-Aux-Bois (France), Les Na•ades 29 May 2004 source: MD audience recording (excellent quality) This quartet has been ex-Soft Machine bassist's regular group since 1999. Made up exclusively of French musicians, it most notably features Hugh's longtime associate, virtuoso guitarist Patrice Meyer, a criminally underrated player who has drawn favourable comparisons with Allan Holdsworth. Hear for yourselves ! The setlist is a mixture of old and new, going back to the ancient "Miniluv" and "Sliding Dogs", and including one brand new piece, "Dabinaire", and a Coltrane cover. Also notable is "For Alan", a tribute to the late Alan Gowen, first performed by Short Wave ca. 1994 but never released officially to this day. CD1 1. Wanglo-Saxon [Hopper] (12:50) 2.
